Gentleman's sock in Railway Stitch

This sock is worked with a French heel, a flat toe, and a pattern for the leg and the top of the foot which is a six-row repeat of knit and purl stitches that creates an interesting woven-looking fabric. Many “gentlemen's” stockings have subtle texture patterns like this.
