Gentleman's Bicycle Stocking in Ridged Knitting

These long stockings have a “short-row” or “Niantic” heel, which Weldon's Practical Stocking Knitter says originated as an imitation of the way the “Niantic” knitting machines turned the heel of a stocking. This is one of the earliest patterns to use a short-row heel.
